New Delhi: The Delhi Police has arrested an 18-year-old man for allegedly attacking a tutor with a knife. The investigation revealed that the 32-year-old tutor had been sexually assaulting the teenager's 14-year-old friend for the past six months.
The teenager allegedly plotted the attack on the tutor to take revenge. The accused reportedly conspired with his friend to carry out the attack and tried to make it look like a robbery by snatching the tutor's mobile phone and cash.
According to the Delhi Police, Devraj alias Jaggu attacked 32-year-old Jai Prakash. To make the attack appear as a robbery, the accused also snatched Jai Prakash's mobile phone and some cash. The incident came to light on the night of January 2 when the police received information from the hospital about a man injured in a stabbing near Kondli Bridge. Due to the severity of the injuries, the injured person was shifted to AIIMS Trauma Center for better treatment.
According to the medico-legal certificate, stab wounds were found on the left side of the injured person's abdomen and back. Police said that Prakash was not cooperating with the investigation and was unable to pinpoint the exact location of the attack. Therefore, the investigation team had to rely on mobile tracking and CCTV footage. The Delhi Police investigation team meticulously examined about 150 cameras.
CCTV footage from Kondli Bridge showed the injured man riding a bicycle towards Dallupura Canal Road with a boy sitting behind him. About 23 minutes later, the man was seen returning alone and in an injured state towards Kondli Chowk. According to the police, the same boy was later seen running behind the bicycle and throwing a small bag near Raj Rani Hospital.
After identifying the minor, the police questioned him in the presence of his parents. He initially misled the police. He stated that the injured man was his tutor and that an unknown person had stabbed him during a robbery. However, inconsistencies in his statements aroused the police's suspicion. The police later identified the main accused as Devraj alias Jaggu. Devraj was arrested from his home during a raid.
During questioning, he confessed to the robbery and stabbing, which he committed with the help of a minor. Devraj revealed that the tutor, Prakash, had been sexually abusing his friend, a minor, for the past six months. He carried out the attack as an act of revenge. The accused attempted to make the incident look like a robbery in a secluded area on Nala Road. After stabbing the victim, they stole his mobile phone and 200 to 300 rupees.
